Brokeback neighbors

Woohoo!!! The semester is finally over!! No more homework, papers and exams for a while... now the sleigh bells are jingling!!

French Fitch and I went shopping yesterday. We decided to go to a dinner and a movie after that, so we had to come home to change and freshen up first. And that was when we found out that we have a stripper for a neighbor. Yeah. She rode up in the elevator with us, wearing a security uniform... except that instead of slacks and boots, she had tights and high heels on. And she wore a ton of make-up. And there was a set of handcuffs attached to her belt. Now, correct me if I'm wrong... but security guards don't usually go to work with make-up as if she's gonna be on a Maybelline commercial. They also don't usually carry handcuffs, and they don't usually enforce tights and high-heels as part of their uniform. And it isn't anywhere near Halloween. She was carrying some bags of groceries and stuff, so it was clear that she'd just returned from a gig or something. French Fitch and I had to resist the urge to break out in laughter all the way up in the elevator. When we got off on the same floor, we found out that she lived right next door to us. At least now I know that if I ever have to organize a bachelor party in future, I wouldn't have to go very far.

Speaking of neighbors, Omarosa from the first season of "The Apprentice" also lives in our building. We've seen her around a few times, and although she claims that her life is very happening whenever she's on some TV interview, she doesn't seem to have much going on, really. Her Jaguar is always parked in the garage, so she's clearly home a lot. And she's got a handicapped parking decal. I don't even wanna know how she got that.

But anyway, enough with the loser neighbors. French Fitch and I saw "Brokeback Mountain" last night. We were so curious about all the media hype that was built up, but after the show, we left a little disappointed. It was alright, and not exactly grappling enough. I thought that there were many areas where more emotion should have built up and shone through, but didn't quite get there. I'm sure the book was better than the movie, 'cos it was supposed to be a tragic love story that didn't end up being all too tragic. They should have done more to make people cry towards the end... I thought that Hollywood was great at doing that. Great story, though. Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger were pretty convincing as gay cowboy lovers. And it's really amusing how the conservatives are rooting for the movie to fail at the box office. It's amazing how the group of people with the most fervent anti-hate messages are spewing hate in this aspect with ever fiber of their existence.

Ever notice how the major problems in the world today are stemmed from religion? You have the middle-eastern suicide bombers and terrorists who think they're carrying out Allah's mission. And you have the republicans in the US who are bent on assimilating the entire bible into the constitution. I believe that there is nothing fundamentally wrong with religion - they're supposed to teach good ethics and morals and promote harmony among people. It's just these idiotic fanatics that take it to the extreme and turn it into a bloodbath.

I wish they would just leave us alone and do their bible-hugging (or koran-hugging) somewhere else far, far away. Like planet Jupiter. Or better yet, the sun. I hear it's nice and warm this time of the year. Go towards the light, people!
